Border of infancy

If you say they are hyperrealistic dolls, you’re deceiving yrself, as they are kids. Loretta Lux kids. With their eyes wide open, their unwashed and yet well combed or naturally curled hair, their unfashionable clothing… are they alive, are they breathing? Which innocence or cruelty inhabits their empty gaze? The photographer, now exhibiting at Galleria Carla Sozzani-10 Corso Como in Milan, mixes classical portrait culture and digital manipulation to reach a result whose fleeting border in the realm of dolls is maybe given by Reborn OOAKs - hyperrealistic infant dolls this time, no real kids.
